Gachet is an ecuadorian visual narrator with more than fifteen years of experience documenting Latin America with a focus on culture, territory, indigenous rights, and environmental issues. She is committed to telling stories that inspire change, generate empathy, and connect people on a human level. She has collaborated with numerous NGOs on campaigns to support local sustainability in underserved communities. She has published her work worldwide in media such as National Geographic Magazine, Smithsonian, Geo France, TNC and The Washington Post, among others.
Gachet is co-author of two books: "Historias Mínimas, de Ecuador a Tierra del Fuego" and "Gypsy Kings" (Gachet-Kashinsky, 2009, 2012). Her work has been awarded in prestigious competitions such as World Press Photo, POY and POYi Latin America. She became a National Geographic Explorer in 2023, to lead a group project in the Latin American region.
Gachet has also demonstrated her ability as a mentor and educator, having been a professor at the Universidad de Las Américas in Quito and taught workshops throughout her career. She was also a mentor for the Women Photograph 2021 mentorship program. Gachet has experience in photo editing, having edited various publications throughout her career.
In 2011, she co-founded Runa Photos, a platform dedicated to documentary photography. She is also a member of Ayün Fotógrafas, a collective of women photographers united by Latin America, further expanding her impact in the field of visual storytelling. For the past six years, Gachet has been documenting the Latinx and indigenous communities in the United States.
